Finding Spelling City Resources:
Sadly, Spelling City has been merged into Vocabulary City. It is now next to impossible to find the great spelling games parents and teachers have come to know and love. Even the techs the company employs to help you are not aware of how to find them. But no worries! Here is how to easily access the spelling resources that are, indeed, still available on Vocabulary City.
How to set up accounts and lessons:
Tutor/Teacher:
Go to www.VocabularyA-Z.com
· Set up an account. (If you are new to the site, take advantage of the free trial offer.)
· Go to the purple banner at the top of the page (Right underneath the main banner.)
· To create a lesson using words your student needs to practice, click on “New Lesson.”
· Type in the words you want her to work on.
· IMPORTANT: Click on the + sign to add the words to your list.
· Save the list.
· Once you have made a word list, click on the white box displaying the words in that lesson. Two prompts will show up below your list.
· Go to the “Digital Resources” box and click on the orange bar that says “assign.”
· You will need to fill in the 3 boxes that show up.
1. Assignment type: “Student Selection.”
2. Choose the appropriate category (Choose two categories because there are different games in the vocabulary and spelling categories. I like “Hang Mouse” in Vocabulary. The spelling games are timed and seem stressful. So, store the student’s vocabulary words as spelling words, and vice versa so you can try out the games with her and see which she likes best.)
3. Select the student.
To access the games she can play, you need to log in through the student’s account. So…
